It also signifies their switch from Intel to AMD for their flagship line-up of laptops in 2020. AMD’s resurgence in the CPU battlefield has been the tale of many a bard for the last couple of years. Still, the decision from a major manufacturer to switch from Intel, the de facto CPU kings of yesteryear, to AMD is quite a highlight.

The Zephyrus G14 will include the Ryzen 7 4800HS CPU. ASUS has also managed a deal to be its exclusive user for the first 6 months. The 4800HS will be a slightly faster version of the regular 4800H, which in itself is a beast clocked at a base of 2.9 Ghz and boosting all the way up to 4.3 Ghz on all its 8 cores. The CPU supports hyperthreading, so users will have 16 threads to play with.

AMD Meets Nvidia To Create A Powerful Machine

The Zephyrus G14 laptop also comes packed with Nvidia’s RTX 2060 MaxQ GPU – that’s some serious horsepower right there, folks. It is also among the very first laptops to carry one of Nvidia’s RTX ray tracer GPUs. The GPU will provide juice to the 120 Hz 1080p display. This machine will play any modern AAA titles on the highest settings at 60+ FPS.

This beast of a machine comes with a maximum of 32GB of RAM clocked at a sweet 3200 Mhz. There are more screen options, too. The laptop will launch with 1440p 60 Hz (yes, that’s a first) and a 1080p 60 Hz options for gamers to choose from.

ASUS provides a VERY generous 76 Wh battery to this laptop, and claims it’ll do 10 hours of battery life in its most energy efficient configuration. This will thus be handy for students and people who travel with their laptop computers a lot. Coming to carrying this thing, for a gaming laptop – it is impressively lightweight.

The laptop also comes with a range of hardware interface options. It comes with a 65W USB-C charging port so you don’t have to carry a hefty charger around. If you want to game, though, you’ll need to plug in the main 185W AC adapter to enable the discrete GPU.

More ports include USB 3.2 ports, HDMI 2.0b, 3.5 mm headphone + mic jack. It also supports the latest WiFi 6 (ax) standard.

We here in India aren’t the luckiest folks in terms of technology. It’s usually more expensive than the rest of the world, and late to arrive. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is expected to launch between the $1500 – 2000 mark. That translates to a probable launch price in India of about INR 1.2L – 1.6L. Pricey, but for the right people and for enthusiasts, a worthy upgrade indeed and a true Alienware competitor.
