While there is no set definition of what a high end gaming PC build is, we have set our own. A high end gaming rig would comprise of the ability to play modern 4K AAA titles at 60 FPS or above, preferably 120 FPS. While there is no set price limit for this build, it is always good to optimize. So, we are not doing anything here like quad 2080 Ti GPUs in SLI because that would be very, very little extra return for a lot of extra expenditure.
We’re going to do a full PC build here, that includes recommendations for peripherals. At the end we’re going to have a component list in our hands that would be optimized to provide the maximum gaming value at the higher end of the spectrum. Let’s check it out!

The Ryzen 7 3700X is an impressive gaming performer and the top choice for our (value-conscious!) high end gaming PC. Some of the other high end alternatives include the 3700X’s older brothers – the 3900X and the 3950X, but they are too overpowered for our use case. And so is Intel’s i9 9900K. The nearest competitor is the i7 9700K, but the 3700X almost matches it in gaming performance and has hyperthreading, all while being considerably cheaper. Gaming aside, the 3700X can also handle any workstation loads. Tasks such as video editing and 3D modelling and analysis tasks with ease.

When it comes to gaming at the cutting edge, nobody comes close to Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti GPU. It shreds everything thrown at it, be it 4K, 1440P, or a measly 1080P! The RTX 2080 Ti consistently pulls over 80 FPS at 4K Ultra settings for all modern AAA titles. It will absolutely stomp over any current and future AAA 4K titles you throw at it. It is definitely a power hungry beast, though, and requires sturdy case airflow and a beefy power supply unit. Gigabyte’s X570 Aorus Ultra is one of the best high end motherboards that keeps itself behind the point of diminishing returns in terms of price. The X570 is the newest generation chipset, introduced along with the launch of the 3rd Gen Ryzen processors with AMD’s Zen2 architecture. This board comes ready for the Ryzen 3000 series of processors out of the box.
The Aorus Ultra has more interface options than even the most powerful of power users knows what to do with. The board has 3 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports and 2 Gen2. It also has a USB C 3.2 Gen2 port. In addition, it has numerous USB headers to support front panel I/O and additional USB hubs.
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4 3600MHz
We chose the RAM that every build worth its salt deserves – G.SKill’s Trident Z RGB. This 16 GB dual channel kit would be right at home in this build. The 16 GB capacity is more than enough for now and will be future proof for a while. The rated speed of 3600 Mhz is the sweet spot for Ryzen 3rd gen processors and will be in perfect sync with the Infinity Fabric to deliver the fastest possible RAM performance. And of course, the lighting effects and overall aesthetic of this RAM is an eye-turner.
Storage for High End Gaming PC Build
Solid State Drive – Crucial P1 1TB NVMe
Crucial’s P1 NVMe SSD is one of the best on the market. With incredible read and write speeds at the 2 GB/s mark, this will move any large files you want in a jiffy. Yes, our motherboard does support Gen4 NVMe SSDs. But would we see any difference in the real world for the 2-3 times more we pay? Not really. So sticking to the value-conscious high end gaming PC build formula of this post, we recommend this drive. As an alternative, you can also choose Samsung’s 970 Pro for a little more money.
Bulk Storage – 4 TB (2 TB x 2) Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM
The reliable Seagate Barracuda series is our hard drive of choice for bulk storage. Two of the 2TB variants will give you a total of 4TB of mass storage for media files and other files.
Monitor for High End Gaming PC Build: BenQ EL2780U 4K 28″
This 4K Monitor from BenQ is one of the best there is for the price. It outputs absolutely stunning colors (full sRGB spectrum coverage) and has a very low input latency of 1ms. This is the perfect high end monitor to game at 4K and also for video and photo editing tasks due to its excellent color reproduction.

Case Recommendation for High End Gaming PC Build: NZXT H700i
While case choices are purely subjective, we like the NZXT H700i for the build. The clean, minimal design is a great way to draw attention to your beastly parts through the large tempered glass side panel.
